Homelander has a trial for murder, where he claims self defense. Before the trial, he invites a few of his biggest fans to meet him, and has their heads smashed in with bats.
After he is acquitted for self defense, a new supe named Sister Sage, who is the "smartest person in the world", provokes a riot. Earlier in the show, Sage correctly explained that all democracies fail because the majority are stupid.
They dump the biggest fan’s bodies on the ground during the riot, and when all is settled, their death gives Homelander unconditional support and loyalty.
