My dog is having some medical troubles (seizures) and it has been a rough day. So no big post. Just a photo I took of her in this fracture cave that a public hiking trail goes right through! We realized this was not in the cave database, and returned to survey it a few months later; it turned out to be almost 200 feet (60m) long, and average ceiling height around 30 feet (9 m).
Sometimes called rift, crevice, or fault caves, fracture caves occur when there is a geologic shift. Even though this is limestone rock, this cave was not caused by water dissolution. Geology is neat!
