npub1w6vgfy3cmle744njkdmqusgtgmw5guhc6tjy32xn5qplmnz0ahwqm7k0qn (npub1w6v…k0qn) I definitely agree with your main point, and I'd like to add some nuance to one statement you made:

> Industries and governments don't really profit from it, because eco-disasters endanger their business/chance for re-election.

In the short run of a few years, which is all they care about, industry executives will *greatly* profit from maintaining the status quo. Corporate profits are as high as they've ever been; CEO salaries and bonuses are ridiculous. Any possible hits their companies might take from disasters don't concern them much. If the execs ever have to leave, their golden parachutes will make them quite comfortable.

As for governments — by which I really mean politicians and high-level bureaucrats — they also benefit from promoting Business As Usual and from protecting corporate profitability. That's because, at least here in the USA, there is a frequently used revolving door between government offices, corporate boardrooms, and lobbying firms. No matter what happens, the future is green for them. Not Green as in eco-friendly, of course, but as in the color of our money. 💵
