In general however if you like OO you can go all in, traits and everything.
if you like async/functional you can go equally all in but it'll be completely different of course.
personally I'd recommend writing perl like javascript but not like python.
keep the inherent "lis(p)tlyness", perl has a certain "not getting in the way" density
