Btw back in time when Facebook just added the cover photos and profile timeline as we know it now, many people were pissed about the changes.
Zuckerberg addressed the criticism posting something along the line that this is as if someone comes to your house and change all your furniture. Even if they give you better furniture you would still be pissed.
It stuck with me because well... It's a fair point. So, I decided to give the changes some time to get used to them and than make up my mind. In this particular case I ended up overall liking it better.
I try to give system changes the benefit of the doubt before I start shit talking. I did it with Twitter as well in the beginning when Musk just took over. I had a conversation with the one and only Andy (@AndyJokedAgain) who decided to take a break from Twitter right after Musk stepped in. At the time my point of view was still hopeful and I saied I'm looking forward to things getting back to normal after the initial shock and even maybe some previous problems getting fixed eventually.
But, boy, little did I knew how wrong I was... I guess Musk got inspired by Zuckerberg but decided to go a step futher and burn your house down instead.
To all of you who come here now in this #TwitterMigration wave:
I know eventually this particular nonsense would get a tiny little bit under control and you would get tempted to go back to the bird site just because it's what you're familiar with and the Fediverse is kinda confusing at first. But I advise you, just like the example above, if you feel this way, give it a bit longer shot. Give yourself some time to get familiar with the differences and then decide what you want to do. Because we both know this is not the last Twitter downfall even if it gets sami normal for a while. In terms of #Mastodon , the more time you spend here, the more you start wondering why you didn't come here earlier.
