It's interesting how he found the notion of a narrator so strange. I think it's neurotypical to have an authoritative voice in your head, reminding you to be responsible, and telling you what to worry about. Freud based his whole career on the existence of such a thing (though his experience was with criminals, fwiw). His "Id/Ego/Superego" resonated with a whole lot of people. Every metaphor on TV where a little angel and a little devil pop up on your shoulders is that sort of thing.
Interesting because I don't... have... that. And I'm fairly sure it's called executive dysfunction.
