Today at Safeway (local supermarket), bought about 25 pounds of beef, spent about $120. By that rounding, $4.80/lb. Actual average/lb, $4.65.

That is more than I should eat in a week, probably by half (I estimate closer to 2 lb/day), but at that price, it was worth filling the freezer a little more. That was entirely london broil and chuck roast, which is now all sliced up into roughly 1" steaks.

Not my favorite cuts, but will get me through to my half-cow that should be here in a few weeks. Second freezer is being delivered tomorrow. Half-cow was purchased for $5.50/lb hanging weight, with processing and kill fee included. I paid just under $2,000 for about 350 lbs.

I estimate I will actually get about 230 lbs of processed meat out of that, so will have paid an average of $8.50/lb, although I am asking for all the organ meats, fat trimmings, soup bones, tripe, etc. that the processor can throw in - and this beef should be far superior to what I am getting at the supermarket for cheap.
