If you were too young to have memories of 9/11, the one thing I will say as someone who was in NYC that day is that you should deeply question almost any social or cultural or political narrative you've been given about the experience people had on that day, or what lessons were learned. Nearly all the narratives have been shaped by those who, then and now, have had nothing but contempt for NYC and our communities.
