trying to make a list of "standards" in the terminal environment (or things that are kind of treated like standards if there isn't one)
so far I've come up with
- POSIX obviously
- maybe xterm's escape codes? it seems like “do what xterm does kind of” is sort of a standard
- the GNU project (ncurses, readline, etc) feels extremely influential in a way that's hard for me to articulate
(I know http://clig.dev/ but I'm trying to find things that are closer to a formal standards document)
