I watched a video about why gen-Z is having trouble making friends and forming communities, and I was pleasantly surprised that the creator was willing to call out antisocial behaviors in addition to obvious external factors like social media and the pandemic. Now, he didn’t call them "antisocial behaviors," but that's basically what he was getting at. And we're talking "antisocial" in the sense that they prevent social connection, and not in the "humanity is a cancer" way.
This was about things like repeatedly canceling plans, especially at the very last minute. Never bothering to attend group functions. Never doing anyone any favors that inconvenience you. Being unwilling to interact with people who don't perfectly align with your expectations.
Good friendships require some effort. Good communities require some collectivism.
