it is honestly disturbing how completely so many people have become dependent on The Algorithm in such an incredibly short time

I have a jacket that is older than The Algorithm on some sites. Sites that were made huge by users and the things they did and said and made. And yet people act as though The Algorithm was some innate, fundamental part of them rather than some largely arbitrary bullshit that's mostly just a feedback loop perpetuating the already-biggest numbers
