We have a modest proposal for your consideration: the plot of the 1991 movie "Regarding Henry" can teach us how to reprogram those toxic people who are, let's face it, the root of society's ills and the biggest threat to the planet's continued viability.
If you're unfamiliar with the movie, Harrison Ford plays a nasty corporate fixer type lawyer, a real piece of work. He ruins lives for fun and profit, to great effect. Then, one day, a kind-hearted armed robber shoots him in the head, and the resulting traumatic brain injury transforms the villainous scumbag into a halfway decent person.
We're sure you all know somebody who could benefit from "getting Henry'd" (should we trademark this?). We can certainly think of some worthy jerks.
Now we recognize that, until we get the technique and angles right, there will be fatalities. But hey, isn't that really a win-win?
