Pain in the ass to setup your own instance as well as it takes ages to configure nicely, especially compared to a mastodon instance that takes a few minutes. But it does so much more so I guess it's swings and roundabouts. If there is a downside to activitypub it's choosing which instance to go with. Changing across multiple platforms isn't that easy",
