I use it to learn things, to buy things, to discuss issues, read the news, participate in discussions and to enjoy myself.
Once a long time ago my father asked me, "What would you use a computer for, anyway?" A lot more than anyone dreamed of! Sure, I pay a lot for my cable but the majority is because it carries my lifeline to the rest of the world.
I can't live without it, and I don't think many people who use it can, either. For all of the same reasons.
