Here's the list of shame - the senators who in 2023 voted against lifting the Equal Rights Amendment ratification deadline so that gender equality could be codified in the US Constitution.

What is the Equal Rights Amendment?
The ERA is a 1970s-era (!!) prohibition on discrimination based on gender, guaranteeing men and women equal rights under the law.
A constitutional amendment needs ratification from three-quarters of the states (38) before it’s added to the US Constitution.
The ERA Amendment was sent to the states for ratification in 1972 (!) with a deadline in 1979. The deadline was later extended to 1982.
In 2020, Virginia became the 38th state to ratify. Because the deadline had passed, the amendment has not been added to the US Constitution.
In 2023, Congress attempted to lift the deadline requirements, but not enough US senators voted to give women equal rights under the law.
I'll repeat that: Too many US senators (some of them women) voted AGAINST codifying equal rights based on gender.
Only 2 Republicans joined the Democrats to make gender equality the law of the land.
