i want to just tacitly mention that americans are just particularly shitty dog owners most of the time. theres not enough land for dogs to particularly frolic in and most dog owners dont actually bother interacting and training with them. they dont think of dogs as a commitment and when they do they overdo it. owners will often yell at them a lot of the time which is extremely counter productive. a lot of dog owners also only get 1 dog, because getting 2 would make 'too much noise' but dogs really need other company to function properly.
a side effect of this is that most dogs are fucking incredibly miserable, lonely, sad, and dysfunctionally submissive. lie around on the ground waiting for food and waiting to be let out and waiting to die. on the contrary if trained and given proper attention they are wonderful pack animal with a lot of energy etc. I mean these are known military animals. theres a profoundly wholesome dog reality most americans simply will not see. I say this despite being mostly a cat person myself but its a political reality for me. cats dont really need as much space to relax in and can easily entertain themselves (a 2nd cat can actually cause more problems). i genuinely distrust people who say they are 'dog people' in amerikkka on principle because of this.
