#GM #plebchain. IBD on my new #Bitcoin node is seemingly speeding up a bit, after a few grueling days digesting some really gross ordinal crap from 2023 and early 2024 -- looks like average block size drops off a little after April so hopefully we can finally be done after nearly 2 weeks of this process. Just to be clear, when people say "it's faster with an SSD" they really mean "no really...get an SSD." I doubt I'll care as much once I finally have the electrum DB set up and it's just dealing with one block at a time, but this has been grueling to watch as my mechanical usb drive has kept things choked out.
In case anyone's wondering though, it is still technically possible to run a node on a Raspberry Pi 4 with a mechanical USB 3.0 hard drive. Now that I've told you though, you can spare yourself the experience of bothering to do so and just go buy $80 worth of better hardware on eBay.
