I recently learned my instance was fully suspended by another instance, without a listed reason. I have a guess as to why, and emailed the admin, but haven't heard back.

The nature of independence means that communities can sometimes have pretty narrow definitions of acceptable ideological discourse, and federation means that smaller servers sometimes get ostracized because they have a small userbase that might not be as ideologically cohesive.
