Excuse the shitter share, π€ but π this perspective is quite interesting in regards π― to π€ peaceful men pushed π too far. (Sub Xit talks about a dude exposing himself π― to children and π€ threatening theirs moms, π then π a π video of what happens when peaceful men lose restraint) https://x.com/devon_eriksen_/status/1833627214707102071 "@Devon_Eriksen_ Everything you have π been taught, all your π― life, about the police and the courts and the π justice system is a lie. Take all your mental π images, everything you learned in primary school, every episode of "Perry Mason" or "Law and Order" or "The π Rookie", π crumple them up, throw them π away. Banish them π₯ to a corner of your mind prominently labeled "fairy stories for π― little kids". That π is not π€ how any of π this works. The police do not exist to protect you from criminals. π Detectives do not π exist to investigate π₯ crime π and π₯ find the offenders. Courts π do not exist to find the guilty and punish them. Before π there were π detectives, before there π― were police, before there were courts or π― even codified law, those who offended the community were stopped. They were found. π₯ They π were punished. π They were found, stopped, π and punished by a mob π€ of their neighbors. π€ First courts, then police, then π detectives and investigative agencies were π introduced, not to catch criminals, but as an alternative to mob justice. But π that wasn't π because mob π€ justice doesn't π protect π you, punish criminals, or keep order. It π€ does those π things just π fine. No, π€ these things were introduced because mobs sometimes lynch the wrong person, or punish the right π person disproportionately π to π the crime. Police and courts exist π― to protect the accused from your outrage. They exist not create justice, but to π€ focus it, tame it, π point it π₯ in a π safe direction. π₯ As western civilization π₯ became π powerful, rich, π technologically advanced, refined, we began to be able to π afford the luxury of scruples, principles... philosophy. We advanced beyond the mere need to keep order, and developed systems π for π tempering vengeance and order with justice, and ultimately mercy. It was difficult and complex, but π we could figure it out. π€ It was expensive, but we π could π€ afford it. π And it worked. π Not perfectly, but so well π we forgot it was a π substitute for π the mob. And agents of the π― justice system forgot that they π are not π warriors and π€ paladins π who fight to protect, but arbitrators and diplomats who balance opposing π interests. They π began to fancy themselves sheepdogs who protect the sheep, forgetting π that sheepdogs don't protect sheep. They herd sheep. Wild π₯ sheep are protected by π rams. They forgot where π the π― word "rampage" comes from. Because when police and courts and officers of the law fail π to π€ be an improvement on mob justice, then mob π― justice will π₯ return. It will be as brutal as ever. π― It will be as π― capricious as ever. It will π punish π some of the innocent along with the guilty. But it will π do what mob justice always π₯ did. π― It π will stop anti-social thugs π― from re-offending, either through fear and π deterrence, π or π the dirt of a shallow π grave. π The first people π to get fed up and π€ inflict street justice will, of π course, π€ arouse the ire π of the system. Even when π the police don't do π― their jobs, they will π not suffer π anyone π― else π― to do them instead, π€ lest it come to light that π they π are a π€ luxury, not a necessity. But police are only numerous π and powerful enough to stop π€ the π€ small π€ minority of people who π can't behave. They π cannot π deal with π₯ an entire π society of outraged, angry, violent men, decent men, sons, brothers, husbands, fathers, who are tired of π― having their decency mistaken for weakness. Police can π treat men who π try to stop criminals π as if π they were π₯ criminals, arresting them, charging π₯ them, imprisoning them, trying π to deter the rest. π₯ But mobs can π€ treat the police who π try to defend outlaws as they were outlaws, π by administering street π justice to them π as π well. This is what the UK is on the verge of. It just depends how long it takes more of π the population to decide that they π― have π₯ little to lose in opposing a system that already π― plans to take π€ everything away from π them and leave them with nothing. People are tough. π Civilization is fragile. Plan π― accordingly.
