For me, GNOME crossed the Rubicon when they decided to abandon the entire concept of the menu bar. 30+ years of proven design, and they just flushed it because they thought they knew better. Even Microsoft didn't fuck it up *that* badly, and they invented The Ribbon *BARF*.
