At the time he must have thought it was a good idea and the right time even though it was highly unpopular then, he knew it was highly unpopular but anyone that writes a book like that is not a dumbass, he knew he was just planting a seed. from what I have been told by people that were around then is that the socialists and communists were always in government well before that but it was so unpopular they never had a chance, there were politicians that ran as communists even until the 60’s but one of them was asked in the late 60’s why did they stop running for office, and the answer was because there’s no need to when the democrats are already adopting the same policy, that was in the 1960’s, i can’t remember off hand but I’ll have to ask my dad who it was, it was a local politician though and I’d rather not say what state, it was at the same time Alinsky was on the scene.
