You're spending a whole lot of social capital to impersonate a single person, and only within the group of people you follow. Much of this social capital will be burned if you exploit the impersonation in a malicious (rather than trollish) way. I find this a pretty dang good balance. And of course, I'm not even saying WoT is the only way to validate people — just that it's the best way.
