I think Adam just needs room to adjust, it's not easy having your whole world flipped upside down. Lots of purging of the old things takes place, it can take time to find equilibrium.
I believe his faith is sincere, and I pray that he would continue to grow and keep in mind that the first church you attend may not necessarily be the right one.
