Today my nine year old daughter, who looks something like a stick bug… told me she didn’t want to wear a bathing suit with side cutouts because it makes her “look fat” and I can’t understand where she developed this mindset from.

I have always lacked in self-confidence when it comes to my appearance but I have made a very conscious choice not to say anything about it in front of my children because I don’t want them to think disliking and shaming your own body is normal.

Now I am wondering what other source in her life has her already thinking about how she looks in this negative way. 😢
