The sleep apnea detection feature for the new Apple Watch/WatchOS is really interesting. Much like the irregular pulse and afib detection, it can give people a useful starting point if they feel something going on but don't really have anything to show a doctor.
I remember my dad telling me about how he had a "weird heart thing" ever since he was younger, as does my little sister and I. He and I both got apple watches around the same time and discovered that we experience irregular rhythms every now and then. Something we always guess but now we had data. Turns out it’s totally fine and not harmful!
When I was 35lbs heavier, around 260, I was getting really shitty sleeps and couldn't figure out why. Turns out it was sleep apnea, which I was able to tell because my blood oxygen levels were dropping every night, and the guy I was dating at the time said "dude you're choking in your sleep" (1/2)
