And the ditch is burning
Bright with fireweed
And daisies.
The day feels lighter
There's hope in the air
As if it is shining
There's a song in my heart
The wires are loaded
With Rooks and Crows
Their solemn music
a requiem for summer.
My darling
I thought you had gone
for the winter,
But here you are
Still dancing
The last Swallow
Silver shining
As gold breaks into the mist
Like a little token
of love remembered.
