The BlueSky situation proves that the reason people don't come to Mastodon is not related to the features or any technical hindrance. It is not even related to choosing an instance, in my opinion. As time goes on I grow into the opinion that people don't come because they're not convinced by the "vibes" here, the attitude hanging in the air is one of "the fediverse has these unwritten rules and if you don't follow them we will passive-aggresively attack you", the instance wars, etc. It may be inevitable. Instead of closing our fists and yelling, we should just come to terms with it. All in all, Bluesky will degrade over time, inserting qdds, having horrible bots... and people will sail the high seas once again. It's happened before qnd it will happen again .
