the other thing is there wouldn't be much demand for the minor cities between Portland and Sacramento to justify the cost. The distance between Portland and Sacramento is huge, and it's the major cities that will drive demand.

If we were to build it, I think roughly following the existing Amtrak route that jumps over the Cascades east of Eugene would be preferable to the I-5 corridor to get down to Redding.
