I read a story about a CIA agent who was severely injured in a helicopter crash in Vietnam. The enemy booby trapped him and waited in the bushes for three days, but nobody came so they just left him there.
His wounds were covered in maggots.
He was found and rescued a few days later.
he only survived on account of the bugs.
His family found out about this incident years after his death when the CIA files were declassified.
