The first Earth gate was discovered in Giza in 1945. It took 40 years before humanity developed a decent dialing system. Another decade before Jackson had deciphered the gate address system. It took another 30 years for us to completely understand the tech of the ancients, to build our own gate system from scratch.
Rather than dialing coordinates the human gates used discrete addressing across a nodal network more akin to internet protocols.
They were ready to re-engage with the universe.
