During my studies I had an ‘ITU’ professor who tortured us extensively with X.nnn standards and ISO / OSI. In the last lecture there was a brief outline of the Internet and things like TCP/IP, telnet, ftp and why it will all be extinct in two years.
At that time I had started to look at TCP/IP, yellow pages, DNS and the like after VAX/VMS and Intergraph Clipper on the first Sun SPARCs and had serious doubts about this prophecy.
