I'm a materialist too, I also believe when you die consciousness ends.
The one small doubt I have is my consciousness appears to have free will, where as the reality appears to be deterministic, at least at the macro level. Perhaps this means consciousness is not part of reality in the way that we understand it? Perhaps a simpler explanation is that free will is an illusion? Undoubtedly, there are other possible explanations.
