Fiat money does not have to lose purchasing power. For instance, over the past year or so, the US debt has ballooned. However the Fed balance sheet shrunk, and for most of the past year, m2 was flat.
The bonds and debt is being paid for out of people's savings and actual deposits, pensions, etc .
The money supply from mid 2022 until now is down, even with $1.8T defects.
Quite the interesting situation.
