Spent 2 hours on the phone trying to convince my father not to vote for the fascists this weekend. He’s so far gone. Every single racist bullshit the media have been spewing over the past few months has come out of his mouth on this phone call.

Good thing is, I was able to debunk him at every turn; leaving him resorting to whataboutisms and changing the subject as quickly as possible.

Still, the one and only argument that seemed to persuade him a least for a few seconds is when I told him that I, like most LGBT people, and most non-white people, am at risk for my life and safety if the fascists win this election.

Horrible thing is, I’m not sure that this even mattered for him in the end.
