wall street isnt manipulating bitcoin price by shorting futures - they are either speculating or trying to earn the carry rate (similar to long spot short perps on binance)
in both cases they are compressing volatility while taking the risk of blowing out if demand pumps, which it will again when we least expect it.
for example, the 24/7 nature of bitcoin makes a gamestop moment for the etfs possible but that pump catalyst will be required
maybe the pump catalyst is some reddit retail fomo thing. maybe its bank failures. but more likely its probably something on few radars.
as a long time bitcoiner i cant wait for that day wall street takes it on the chin again, but its not this day.
this day belongs to wall street because of the ETFs and regulators who have put us and our bretheren in a box.
they dont manipulate price as much as they suck our efforts and excitement from us.
what else is new?
if you want to escape the day to day volatility compression you'll have to look somewhere the spot market dwarfs derivatives and spot demand is strong.
