1/4 I had hernia mesh installed when I was 13 years old, and it completely changed my life. Despite the surgeons' claims that the mesh would dissolve over time, over the years it became rigid and razor-sharp, causing severe pain on a regular basis - not infrequently to the point of fainting. Furthermore, the hernia recurred at the age of 33, along with long-term nerve damage, persistent digestive problems, and sometimes days of extreme weakness.
