for a while, i washed residential windows. i enjoyed the work. it was simple, required patience, and while physical, wasn’t body busting. it was almost meditative. and i made decent money.

i met alot of millionaires, and one billionaire. the millionaires were often uptight, difficult, unkind, and had extravagant external displays of wealth. the billionaire was one of the kindest, most hospitable people ive ever met. there was an energy coming off of him that made you feel like anything was possible, and you mattered. And while the millionaires often had very expensive cars in the driveway, the billionaire had non-descript white ford trucks. his house was surprisingly modest, and simple. well, that is until you paid close attention to the quality of the building materials.

this contrast between the two taught me some things about people and money.

although, i would be remiss if i didnt mention that in the very small and simple master bedroom of the billionaire, one of the walls was all cupboard style closet doors. and one of the doors opened into a passageway that led to an underground olympic sized pool lined with dark blue ceramic tiles, and a red Chihuly glass display coming out of the water. So there was that. 😆 But i still found it interesting that it was completely hidden, and even people visiting the house would never know it was there.
