It really just comes down to the more people you follow, the more active users, the more toots you're gonna see. And this is more or less the way the internet has always worked until maybe 5-6 years ago.

It'll be okay. Follow some people, unfollow some people, boosts some posts, you're going to be fine; it's really not that different and every one of us over 35 did this just to get online in the first place.
