I think it's quite probable #trump forced her hand here. It's quite possible #taylorswift would have stayed out of it, but once #djt faked her support, she had no real alternative but to declare.
Sometimes the orange guy is so vain it veers into the area of rank #stupidity and this is surely the case here.
