The $5-10 ones have bad quality, break, even some of the pricier ones have really weird features, like touch sensors on the outside that mess with the music when you're just pushing the bud back in your ear (sigh). Which is what I figure that little plastic strap piece is for on these, for holding it in the ear. None of mine have those.
