I like... pseudonymity as training ground. If you mess up under a nickname bad enough that you've gotta burn it and start over then you learn something and hopefully grow from the experience, but if someone messes up under their real name and get called out on it then it follows them around forever, and half the time they'll double down and dig in. Disposable identities provide an escape hatch, a way to be wrong on the internet and learn from it.
