I quite like dogs. We've had several over the years who I've adored. But in public they need to be kept on a short lead. Nor do I particularly want them underfoot in a cafe or beer garden where I have serious eating, drinking, and talking to do. Same goes for untamed children running riot. And I really don't want your cat in my yard stalking the native birds. Yes, I have become a curmudgeon.
