I attempted to kill myself twice when I was a teenager. What I needed was simple, a world that is open and accepting of queer people. Yes part of the process afterwards was accepting myself but that wouldn’t have been necessary if society didn’t otherwise me from the start or if the religion I was forced into hadn’t told me I would go to hell because of a fundamental and unchangeable part of myself.
