The sad reality is that people just tend to be lazy, even "well-intentioned" people, the bad influences still need to be substituted for something positive or the kid turns out just as fucked up - and that takes hard work, more than most people I think are capable of. That's how I was raised and now I'm an administrator on a federated network.
