I've been shopping for a new chainsaw. there are these chinese clones where they apparently bought out of date patents from companies like stihl and remake them. now, they are a LOT cheaper so if you aren't running a business and just need to chop some firewood, it can make sense, but when you take them apart and look at what's inside and compare them to the originals, it's clear how cheap the imitations can be. Even with modern technology and the literal plans, they can't make a product anywhere near as well.

Now imagine they had to create an invention, design, and construct it from scratch. Virtually impossibru.
