Like, I dunno how to explain this better but the story you get told as kids in school is that Nazi Germany happened because Hitler was a magic man with a silver tongue who lead Germans astray. And that's a super convenient story for a new post-war capitalist order gearing up for the Cold War and dependent on repurposing Germany as the front line in that Cold War.
