Oh that's hilarious. This looks like a hero version of the Mandalorian disruptor rifle that can actually fire a single shot round & the guy is testing it out the same way you test out any other real rifle on a gun range report.
That rifle didn't exist except an animator just drew it into the animated Boba Fett story in the infamous 1979 Christmas TV special. Favreu made 1 for his TV series & Lucas said what's that. It's pseudo-canon.
