I think Mass Effect one, would have been improved greatly, without adding anything, by simply altering the planet missions to not use the vehicles at all.

Drop on the edge of the compound, take out the enemies, tag the resources, etc etc.

To make the Mako parts of the game good, would take an overhaul.
