The ego is an illusion. There is no self to love nor to be loved, for life is love and love is life. To say I love you presupposes the existence of either of us. What you believe you are experiencing as reality is a perceived need that will die along with your ego when your body dies. I am not what you believe you love. You don't love me at all.
