A couple of raptors from Jones Beach State Park, on LI, NY, on Sunday. It was pretty low-key, considering that migration is now in full swing, but apparently the predicted "high" volume for our area was downgraded to "medium" as prevailing easterly winds pushed migrating birds further west. Still, our group (South Shore Audubon Society) collectively recorded about 30 species. In addition to the 2 raptors shown here, we observed a Northern Harrier, a Cooper's Hawk, and possibly a Sharp-shinned Hawk (or another Cooper's).
